Shopping, Cowgirl and home time !

So our trip to wonderful New York has finally come to an end. This is our last morning and we’ve just checked out and found a nice little Resturant to camp up in for some lunch. Although after last nights meal I don’t think I ever want to eat again.

Anyway, the last couple of days have been spent doing some serious shopping, as with clothes generally being cheaper here anyway, together with the fact that the exchange rate has been going up in our favour, it’s been the perfect storm for the credit card !! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The more we’ve walked around Soho and the West Village the more we’ve discover. Little restaurants on small tree lined roads that maybe only have 6 to 10 tables , but do the most delicious food, and little bars full of local people enjoying a glass of wine, and to me this is the real New York. It will be sad to leave it behind.

However, what I won’t be sad to leave behind are the ridiculously large portions Americans seem to accept. This was only bought to a head last night at a Resturant we’d walked passed many evenings and always look fun. It’s called Cowgirl and on Hudson St, and to give you and idea the info says “A Texas-friendly atmosphere, one of the first true Country Western locations in NYC” . So, in true ‘Texas’ style I ordered the BBQ Chicken and Rib combo…..big mistake….HUGE mistake. The plate was cram-packed with enough food to happily feed a family of four. There was 1/2 a chicken , and enough ribs that would constitute a full rack at home. There was also a pile of mash potatoes , a bowl of spicy beans, a bowl of slaw and a pot of BBQ sauce. I suddenly felt full before even starting !! The photo below does really show the enormity of the plate…but believe me it was massive. To be honest, the plate looked as full as it did after I’d eaten. I didn’t even try the beans or slaw or mash…..all I could manage was the chicken and ribs, and even then it was a half hearted attempt. I’m looking forward to starting the diet next week ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now….taxi to JFK, we’ve a return First Class flight to catch !!
