Above the Rainforest in Cornwall

Ever since The Eden Project opened in 2001 it’s been on my list of places I’ve wanted to visit. I’ve always found a fascination in the space age looking greenhouse structures, so we found time to visit during our road trip. In fact, Eden is situated right between Plymouth and Padstow, so it made sense to visit yesterday on the way to Padstow.

Unfortuately we had rain first thing, but apart from the initial stroll down to the huge Biomes, most of our visit was inside the two greenhouses. One Biome was called ‘Mediterranean’ and the other ‘Rainforest’ , each housing plants from those regions. The Rainforest one had the additional attraction of a treetop viewing platform suspended from the roof that you can climb up to…..not for the faint hearted !!

You can see a great timelape video of its construction here http://www.youtube.com/v/qzAzLRtfbGs&rel=0&autoplay=1

We finished off our visit with the obligatory Cornish cream tea and then headed off for the short drive to  Padstow.
